I’d never heard of Graeter’s Ice Cream until I received an email talking all about their two new product lines. I was following my diet plan closely but they hooked me with “gelato”, and so I agreed to try out their new and classic frozen treats. Yay, willpower.
“Family-owned Graeter’s Ice Cream is releasing two completely new product lines for the first time in 144 years this spring. Graeter’s Gelato and “A Little Less Indulgent” lines are made with the same high quality ingredients and attention to detail as Graeter’s original flavors. But they’ll reach new consumers who may be watching their waistlines, or just looking for a new delicious frozen treat.”
My husband is particularly concerned about sugar intake right now, but he still has a sweet tooth so I thought their “A Little Less Indulgent” flavors would be a hit with him, and I’m a huge gelato fan, and the kids love just about anything with sugar – so something for everyone!
The gelato was the first pint I dug into after the box arrived. Graeter’s makes the claim to be the most authentic Italian gelato you can find in the U.S. It’s been a while since I’ve enjoyed gelato in Italy, so I can’t make the comparison myself but I did love Graeter’s Gelato. Especially the pint of hazelnut truffle they sent me. The truffles in the ice cream come from a family owned confectioner in Pennsylvania. The combination of gelato and chocolate truffles is heaven in a pint.
Graeter’s Ice Cream is made using a signature hand-crafted French Pot process to ensure dense and creamy ice cream. Of the two we tried, Coconut Chocolate Chip and Buckeye Blitz, the coconut is my favorite but both were delicious. I’m loving everything coconut lately.
The A Little Less Indulgent line uses a natural sugar substitute made from Monk fruit extract. The new line has 50 percent less sugar, roughly 25 percent less fat and 25 percent fewer calories than Graeter’s regular ice cream. We received chocolate chip and vanilla. No complaints here, only oohs and ahhs.
Don’t fret if your grocery store does not yet carry Graeter’s, the ice cream is also available by mail so visit graeters.com and order yours, stat!
