It’s the Lenten season, a time of charity, reflection and sacrifice. What people don’t understand so much is that Lent isn’t primarily about giving things up. But on Fridays, we do refrain from eating meat. What’s funny is that we tend to order a lot of pizza during Lent, and for me that’s more of a treat than a sacrifice! It also tends to make me pack on the pounds…
It’s much healthier for all of us to eat fish, but fish dinners out can be expensive, and at the end of the week I’m not always up for prepping a fancy fish dinner at home. Thankfully, Gorton’s has an easier solution. They still offer the same breaded and battered fish that my kids love, but now they also have healthier, more adult options available.
Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find the new Artisan Fillets at my normal grocery store. But I did pick up beer battered shrimp and breaded flounder. I have tried the grilled varieties in the past which I thought were just okay. I am going to keep an eye out for the new varieties which include:
- Roasted Garlic & Italian Herb
- Lemon & Cracked Peppercorn
- Southwest Tortilla
- Southern Style
Can’t wait to give these a try this Friday.
