It’s been quite a week. I’ve been sick with some sort of stomach virus since Tuesday morning. Thankfully, I started feeling better just in time for the “Smores at the Shore” girlfriend’s weekend here at the oceanfront Golden Inn Hotel and Resort located in beautiful Avalon, New Jersey.
Most of the other blogging moms arrived last night but I joined the group this morning at breakfast. The buffet style spread was amazing, though I wasn’t feeling quite well enough to fully indulge. There’s always tomorrow! We all enjoyed some great conversation before we headed over to Michele’s Salon and Spa, where I received my very first massage. Some of the other ladies got lovely manicures and pedicures. It’s not a girl’s weekend without some pampering.
The double room offered at The Golden Inn features lovely furnishings for a homey feel. There is a small kitchenette right in the room, very convenient. And we can’t forget the ocean views – just gorgeous!
I forgot to pack shampoo, so I was happy to find that rooms are stocked with toiletries from Bath & Body Works – a small detail that goes a long way.
Dinner was lively. There was a fantastic jazz band playing, whom we were seated right next to. Being the last evening of the weekend, we asked about a quieter area so that we could all talk over our plates, and the hotel manager brought us back to the hotel’s Italian restaurant. The atmosphere was much quieter and the restaurant decor, ultra-romantic. Our meals were delicious and well-portioned. My crab cakes were simply divine, as was dessert.
It was an unforgettable weekend for all. I feel relaxed and rejuvenated, and I’m looking forward to visiting again very soon. A big thank you to The Golden Inn, and especially Hotel Manager Kevin for their hospitality.
I was not compensated for this post. The Golden Inn of Avalon offered us girls an opportunity to experience their hotel’s amenities, and I’ve offered my honest review above.
