When we picked out Emma’s crib and dresser set, we weren’t only thinking about the next two years of our lives, but the future beyond that, too. I knew I wanted a 4-in-1 crib that would eventually convert to a full-size headboard and footboard. The dresser was large enough so that it would grow as she did.
At the end of the summer, we started the conversion process to her new big girl room, and all we needed to complete the transition was a full-size mattress. We looked high and low for the right mattress with a combination of support, comfort and safety.
The more we looked, the more confused we were. It was very difficult to compare prices and verify that we were matching apples with apples. After browsing multiple stores, from bargain outlets to high end department stores, we finally discovered durable, dependable Serta mattresses.
The familiar name brand appealed to us, the mattress came with a nice warranty, and the prices were reasonable. Emma still loves her big kid bed, and it’s much easier to get her to go down for a nap or to bed at night when we announce that she’s going to sleep in her “big girl bed”.
We love having a larger bed in her room for those nights when she’s sick or scared so that either her dad or I can lay with her and comfort her. Which is why we skipped right over the toddler bed and went straight to the full-size conversion.
Our only regret is the dreadfully long process it was to finally find the perfect mattress. It sure would have been a whole lot easier if we had realized that the same mattress was available in the ShopNBC Serta Mattress collection. You can shop for anything online these days!
Now if only we could get over the potty training hurdle.

Hopefully that mattress will last her for years and years and years. I left for college with the same bed I had as a child!

Oh my goodness wouldn’t that be nice?

I wish I would have skipped the toddler bed and went straight to the full-size because Zoe is finally going to sleep on her own but it has taken a long time. She now loves her twin bed. Potty training will come:)

This is so awesome! Our crib was a hand me down from a family member. So we will have to buy a big girl bed.

I have a convertible “crib” in my little guys room and still can’t figure out how to convert it. Unlike me, I can’t find the papers for it! Ekk! He needs his “big boy” bed…and I need my bed back. ;-)

The funny thing is, our fit did not come with instructions. We had to google it and found it online. Maybe try that? Or call the place where you bought the furniture and hopefully someone can help. Good luck!
