Friday Finds: Beach Bag Essentials

Summer is in full swing, and many a beach day in our immediate future. The difference between a successful day at the beach and a beach of a day is all in the planning. I try to keep my bag packed and ready so when the decision is made we can grab it and go.

Having grown up on a barrier island at the jersey shore, I’ve had my share of good and bad beach days. Is there such a thing? Yes! And I can tell you from experience that it’s important to have the right gear and products on hand. Read on, because there might be a few things here that you haven’t thought about.

Beach Bag Essentials

1

Avalon Sweatshirt

Avalon Sweatshirt

Don't think just because you're headed to the beach on a hot summer day that you don't need a sweatshirt. Nights - and even some days can turn cool when the wind shifts and you will find yourself needing to add a layer. Might as well make it cute with this coffee - beach - ice cream - boardwalk - repeat. sweatshirt. There a number of NJ specific items in this adorable shop, too. $48; Pinkly Perfect

Summer's Eve Cleansing Cloths

Summer's Eve Cleansing Cloths

When you want to go from the beach to the bar, these cleansing cloths sure come in handy. It's an easy way to freshen up and remove all that beach day sweat and sand so that you can have a comfortable evening at the shore. We love the individual pouches! $1.70; Target

3

Beach Blanket Burger

Beach Blanket Burger

The beach is fun; your towel should be too! We love this huge burger towel. It doubles as a blanket if you don't feel like lugging beach chairs and it will surely serve as a conversation starter on the sand. $25; Amazon

4

Low Tide Tote

Low Tide Tote

No beachgoer can survive without an awesome beach tote. We're obsessed with this classic crochet straw tote with a modern twist. It's roomy and lightweight and features a removable, snap-out, washable canvas lining with 2 slip pockets, 2 zipper pockets and a water bottle holder. It's a great bag that you can use all summer long, day and night. $129; Beach'D

Image Skincare Sport Sunscreen

Image Skincare Sport Sunscreen

IMAGE Skincare’s new Prevention+ Sunscreen Sprays feature built-in broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection and offer SPF 30 and SPF 50. This anti-pollution, anti-aging pure mineral sunscreen spray offers superior UVA/UVB and Infrared protection. It's infused with antioxidants and plant stem cells and is paraben and chemical-free. We love the non-greasy yet moisturizing finish. $35; Image Skincare

6

Soft Surroundings Coverup

Soft Surroundings Coverup

We love this gorgeous coverup. The crochet design at the top is beautiful, the design is flowy and the material is softer than butter. Not only is it super comfy but it looks great on and is very forgiving for those of us who are till wearing our winter bodies. It's so versatile that it can take you from the beach to dinner. $58; Soft Surroundings

7

Buzz Away & After Bite

Buzz Away & After Bite

Flies at the beach? Yes, ma'am and they are brutal. If there's a west wind and you see green heads, just leave and come back later. Buzz Away Extreme is an eco-positive insect repellent containing geranium, citronella, cedarwood, lemongrass and peppermint, some of the most effective plant oils for warding off unwanted pests. It’s been tested by the USDA and was shown to provide 4 hours mean protection time against mosquitoes. Too late for that? To treat the bites and get relief from the itching, use After Bite. There is even a formula designed specifically for kids. $3.50; Target

Are there any other items you won’t head to the beach without?
