When I dreamed of having children, I thought bath time was going to be the best thing ever. Turns out it’s one of my least favorite mommy chores. Challenges include getting the kids to cooperate while washing them quickly before allowing them to play with their bath toys, dumping water over their heads without having them react as though I’m waterboarding, and most importantly knowing what’s safe for their skin? I’m so happy that I finally discovered Burts Bees Baby Bee Shampoo & Wash ($10) and Bubble Bath ($9 http://www.burtsbees.com).
Then there’s the post bath time issues, namely combing the hair. My son is easy – I just dry and dress him and he’s done, but Emma is another story. I like to brush and detangle her hair after the bath but usually that brings a lot of tears and frustration. We just got the Conair detangle wet or dry brush to try and it works fabulously. ($9 http://www.conair.com)
A few months back I removed my acrylic nails and never looked back. My nails were ruined, and they’re finally at the point where I can paint them again. Hooray! I love playing with nail polish, and OPI recently sent 3 beauties my way:I sea you wear OPI, I STOP for Red and On Pinks & Needles ($8-10 http://www.opi.com).
Not only do I love the packaging of the Le Couvent des Minimes products (they look great in my powder room) but the products actually work really well. Ultra Cleansing Foam (300 mL, $12) gently cleanses skin. Its original recipe blends purifying citrus with refreshing Litsea in a natural cleansing base, helping it to gently purify without drying skin. Enriched with degreasing agents, the mild formula leaves you feeling clean and fresh (http://usa.lecouventdesminimes.com).
Gardener’s Hand Healer (75 mL, $19) is a top seller in France. This rich, emollient cream protects against cracks and dry skin by acting like an invisible glove, locking in moisture and protecting skin. Made from an original recipe that combines 20% Shea Butter and seven beneficial plants to aid dry hands, the formula also features soothing Chamomile and Marshmallow, uplifting, Calendula and Lemon Balm, and bright Verbena for softer, smoother feeling skin (http://usa.lecouventdesminimes.com).
Another new brand I’ve fallen for is Pür Minerals. I love the Rescue Squad SPF 25, a daily Defense (DD) Crème that actively fights the visible signs of skin stress and premature aging. A rich blend of natural hydrators and the latest generation of anti-aging peptides Matrixyl® Synthe’6 work together to undo previous damage, while the broad-spectrum barrier protects the skin from future damage ($35, purminerals.com).
I can’t get enough of the Pür Minerals Miracle Mist thanks to the delicious smelling citrus oils. It instantly soothes and refreshes your skin on hot, sunny days. Spray on after applying your makeup to set for the day ($19, purminerals.com).
I can’t tell you how many times my perfume has leaked all over my bag or simply evaporated before I could use it. Soap & Paper Factory Solid Perfumes are the travel friendly solution to my problems and they come in fantastic scents like lavender, gardenia and verbena ($18, soapandpaperfactory.com).
