Last weekend my daughter received communion for the very first time. This is a huge milestone occasion in a little girl’s religious life, and such a big deal for our family that we decided to throw a party after the mass for our entire family to celebrate her special day. Having the celebration outside of our home was much easier on me but I knew it was going to be costly. Oriental Trading helped take the stress out of the big day by offering party supplies at reasonable costs.
I decided not to go with a theme, but instead I chose a color scheme of pink and gold. We stuck to this scheme when ordering the cake, decor and accessories for the party.
After consulting with restaurant staff, I decided that I’d make my own bouquets for the dinner. I was scrambling to find vases in my basement that would coordinate, but then I fell in love with this pack of 12 Gold Mercury Mason Jars. They were perfect and at an excellent price point below $35! I went to the local market the day before the party and picked up a few beautiful flowers and greens to fill the jars with.
We went back and forth on favors. There are so many wonderful options from Oriental Trading so it was not an easy decision. In the end we decided on the Personalized Religious Swirl Lollipops. You just can’t go wrong with personalized items for a party! Wanting to dress up the lollipops a bit more, I decided on a ribbon for that finishing touch. This sheer cream ribbon added a delicate gold flair without being too gaudy.
I had a card box from my wedding that I decided to repurpose for this event that worked really well with my color scheme, so these were all of the items I needed to complete the party.
After months of preparation and religious education, the day finally came. We were well prepared on right on point with the budget thanks to Oriental Trading.
My mom and I used to love buying party essentials from Oriental Trading! It was always one of my favorite catalogs to get and look through! It is a shame they don’t have anything similar here in Norway.

Congratulations to your little girl. Receiving Holy Communion for the first time is also a big celebration in my family. I remember each and every one of my children in that solemn ceremony, receiving the Sacrament. I was in tears every time. I think you did a good job with the centerpiece. They turned out to be beautiful.

These are beautiful decorations! I use OTC all the time for my classroom supplies and prizes. The kids all love the things we can find on there!

I love Oriental Trading and I am using items from them for my wedding. The prices are affordable and cute.
I have gotten several Oriental Trading magazines, but have yet to order anything. I love their large selection of like everything!
