I did some last minute shopping the day before Christmas Eve at BJ’s. Surprisingly enough, it wasn’t quite as crowded as I thought it would be. Over the summer we saw Finding Dory and the kids absolutely loved it so I picked up a copy of the movie to unwrap on Christmas morning while I was shopping for a few other last minute toys and household supplies.
It just so happened that we also needed tissues with all of the running noses around here lately. And to what my wondering eyes should appear, I found the very last package of tissues.
We love a good quality tissues so that our noses don’t get all sore and Kleenex tissues are soft, strong and absorbent thanks to their 2-ply thickness. We keep a box in each bathroom, on our bedside tables, in the family room and the car. Our noses are covered!
Seeing that there was only one package left of these fun tissue boxes, I decided to create a fun craft tutorial for those of us who can’t find them or want to continue with the fun theme long after the tissues are gone. It’s sort of a tissue cozy using none other that the empty tissue boxes.
You want to tape together the two sides as if you were reconstructing a part of the box so that a new tissue box can slide right through the back. I used the section which is circled above, then I used orange construction paper to wrap the box using a glue stick to adhere it. Next, I cut a piece of adhesive foam to make Nemo’s stripe. You can also use white construction paper if foam is not readily available. Then accent with nemo’s fins and black marker and glue on eyes to complete the look.
The kids were so inspired by my tissue cozy that they decided to make their own Nemo and Dory characters using the rest of the box sides and supplies.
Right now Fandango is offering a free movie when you buy any Kleenex packaging and upload your receipt, for even more movie fun.
