Saturday was Emma’s big birthday bash at Kid Junction. Our family and friends gathered to celebrate her big day at one of our favorite play places in South Jersey.
Kid Junction does not close to the public for your party, so I was a little nervous about how crowded it might be. I was relieved that there were not too many people in the place so that turned out great.
All of the different play areas satisfy the needs of all the kids attending no matter what their age which was wonderful, but this did make it difficult to mingle with your guests. It was a little overwhelming for me as I tried to make my way around to chat with everyone. In retrospect, I probably should not have been so concerned over that, as there is plenty of time to talk with guests in the private party room.
The ultimate party experience is 2 hours long. It involves about an hour of play time followed by food and cake, and topped off with another half hour of play. I liked that kids get to play first, especially since guests who arrived late did not miss out on the food and cake. That said, I wish the format was an hour and a half of play followed by the private room. It would have been easier to have guests leave from there so that I could distribute the favors and say our goodbyes instead of having to find everyone at the end.
The pizza was decent, and the cake while it looked just okay, tasted great. Food and drinks for the children are included in the base package but feeding about 20 adults was a little high. Pies were $13 a pie which is not too bad, but two small pitchers of soda was about 20 bucks. The pizza is baked on premises and outside food is not permitted. It was pretty nice to have the break from serving guests so that I could just mingle and enjoy for a change!
Here is the birthday girl in her special chair just before blowing out the candles. She leaned forward and got icing all over her shirt; it was pretty funny.
All in all, it was a great time, and a lot of fun for the birthday girl and all of her friends.
Everyone enjoyed the day and I even got a few thank you notes from guests in the days after. I’d say that’s a successful event, wouldn’t you? You can read all about why I chose Kid Junction for her birthday party here.

Her eyes as she’s looking at the cake are so cute! I did a party for my daughter once at Chuck E. Cheese and I think it was one of her favorites.
Happy Birthday, Emma!
