This is one of my favorite things to prep and let simmer while I’m running around like a crazy person — not only because it smells amazing and makes the whole house smell like I’m Donna Reed-ing every day, all day, but because cause it pays off big with minimal effort.
First, get your hands on 6-8 medium apples – whatever kind you like, I use Gala or Empire. Peel and core them. This is the hardest part, swearsies.
1) Place peeled cored apples in the crock pot.
2) Add about 1/8 c. brown sugar sprinkled over top and 3 cinnamon sticks (fewer or ground will do)
3) Simmer on low for 6 or so hours.
You can blend to make smooth but I prefer to eat chunky over oatmeal, with vanilla ice cream, or just as a stand alone. It’s healthy, makes plenty, tastes more decadent than the ingredients would prove, and has a variety of uses. Is it just me or do you feel accomplished with something in the crock pot?
Enjoy! And share, please…
I’ll be this makes your house smell amazing! I’ll have to try it with apples from our tree this year!
So good and so easy. I made a double batch and froze the other half – just defrosted some and used it and it was delish. So there’s a bonus tip!
My grandson loves apples! I’ve never thought about giving him apples with his ice cream! He would love it!
This sounds so delicious, I love anything with apples.
simple and yummy/..thanks
I will be making this and give the recipe to our two sons…
All of us love crockpots!
Thanks, Cindi

I never thought to do that in the crockpot! GREAT idea!
I can’t wait to try this, Megan. I tend to make more savory in the crockpot but this sounds amazing.
