There is a local chain in Central Jersey called The Windmill. I first visited one of their restaurants in Long Branch during my freshman year at Monmouth University, but I really became hooked once I started getting their chili dogs in Freehold. Every time I drive to my sister-in-law’s house I think about stopping there for a bite, because their dogs are amazing.
I finally got my fix a few weeks ago at Casey’s in Magic Kingdom. It was huge, and also tasty. My husband couldn’t resist taking a bite and he almost lost a finger in doing so.
Recently I made chili without the beans. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of a chili dog with beans on it although I’m sure someone has done it. One of my favorite things to make with this chili is a chili cheese dip, but I was so inspired by these chili dogs I knew I wanted to try my hand at recreating one.
Easy Chili Cheese Dog
And wouldn’t you know it, it’s one of the easiest recipes ever when you have a prepared chili on hand. Hormel is perfect for this!
- 1 cup chili
- 1 thin slice velveeta
- hot dog and top-sliced bun
- Heat hot dog and place in bun.
- Microwave Hormel chili and velveeta for a minute.
- Top hot dog with chili followed by the melted cheese.
- Add any additional toppings you might enjoy.

I love a good chili dog. I think our ball park uses Hormel. We get one nearly every game.

It’s been along time since I had a chili cheese dog. I might need to introduce the kids to them this summer.

Oh yeah, I guess a chili dog wouldn’t have beans. I never thought of it. I’m glad you like the Hormel. :)
