What’s Your Definition of Beauty?

By Heather

UNI_WAG_DoveMirrors_Asset1[1][2][1][1]I wish I had the ability to communicate with my past self. Looking at photos of myself in my 20s, I remember feeling like I was so imprefect, overweight and flawed. And right now I wish I could look like that. What was I thinking?

In this day and age of airbrushing, personal trainers, plastic surgery and other things models and celebrities have on their side, women – especially young women, are set up for disappointment. It’s a scary thing. I hope I can teach my daughter to have a good enough head on her shoulders to realize that beauty is more than a slim physique and perfect makeup.

Now I know longer see beauty as perfection; there not one cookie cutter version that we should all aspire for. Now I see beauty in flaws and uniqueness, in health and in confidence.

Thanfully Dove and Walgreens are determined to help build positive self esteem in women, no matter what their shape or size. As part of this, they want to encourage women to lift up other women. A great way to do that is to send a thoughtful card or gift.
