Don’t you just love it when you realize it’s already 3:00 and you forgot to take dinner out of the freezer? After the 3rd pasta meal of the week, it gets old and then you start to try and get creative with dinner. Chicken nugget sandwiches, anyone?
With the Nuwave oven, a frozen turkey can make it to the dinner table in just a few hours. It employs a 3-way method of cooking -conduction, convection and infrared cooking. Last night I cooked a defrosted turkey breast with the Nuwave. I had originally planned to cook it from frozen just to test it out, but I had to make room in my freezer the other day for all of my diet meals.
This big honkin’ thing is just the breast, believe it or not.
Anyway, for an 8-pound turkey breast the handy chart told me it would take about an hour and 20 minutes (12 minutes per pound). If it was frozen, it would have been 15 minutes per pound. I nervously watched as it cooked because I half-expected that it would be burnt on the outside and raw on the inside since the skin was browning rather quickly. I rotated the tray 180 degrees about three quarters of the way through and let it cool slightly until my husband came home from work.
The turkey came out amazing! The skin was perfectly browned on the outside and lusciously moist inside. I don’t think I could have done that with my regular oven, and this was all without basting.
Cleanup was super fast. I just wiped up the drippings and then lifted the tray from the base and washed it in the sink along with the rack.
As you may have been reading, I am on a special diet, but I was able to enjoy this meal with my family without blowing it. I always tell my husband that in our next house I want a double oven, well now I’ve got my second oven. This one will cook the meat while the built-in oven will bake the casserole.
You can make many other meals with the Nuwave including different meats, side dishes, appetizers and even pizza! I’m already looking into the pizza kit. This is a must have appliance for the kitchen that won’t become a dust collector.
The statements made in this post are my own, and have not been influenced in any way. I received a Nuwave oven at not cost to me so that I could share my honest opinion.
