Cypher Kids Augmented Reality Cards for Learning #CypherKidsClub

By Heather

When Social Fabric announced the Cypher Kids cards campaign, I wasn’t really sure what they were. I knew they were essentially flash cards, but there was some three-dimensional aspect to them when paired with an Apple device. Since I knew I was going to be visiting my local Target store to find them and choose a pack, I visited the Cypher Kids website.

After perusing the website, I decided that I was most interested in purchasing the Wild Animal Adventures Pack. Then I received word that I’d be allowed to try all three packs. So after Ryan and I dropped Emma off at Pre-School, we headed over to do some shopping at Target.

We jumped at the opportunity to try all three of the Cypher Kids Augmented Reality cards. On Friday night, we cracked them open to see what we could see, and learn what we could learn.

Starting with the Wild Animal Adventures pack. It did take a bit of practicing to get the hang of it and make sure the 3-D images displayed at the center of the iPad. Until we realized that you can easily adjust your view by rotating the iPad over the card. Now we know!

We started in exploration mode. All you do is find your card of choice and then select the matching animal/number/letter on the screen. I had Emma find the matches on the screen and tap them. Then you hover your device camera over the back side of the card.

This was easy enough even for Emma to do. Though after doing it a few times, she requested that I handle the others.

She then enjoyed watching the show and learning, but she especially enjoyed the interactive part where she could have control over how the animal moved. Such as making the zebra kick it’s legs, or having the polar bear dip his paw into the water to catch a seal. I enjoyed learning some of the fun facts alongside Emma.

You can then switch to Snapshot mode and take cool photos like this one:

Cypher Kids Interactive Cards are available at select Target stores nationwide. They are the perfect educational-yet-fun gift idea for the holidays. Follow the company on twitter and/or facebook to keep up to date on new products and offers.
