Mom-a-ging a home with a preschooler and and an infant is more difficult than my most stressful of jobs. At least when I worked, I was able to have adult conversations, a lunch break, and even if I had to work late I did get to return home and leave the stress behind for a few hours. Not so in the world of motherhood.
My only respite from stressful days taking care of everybody else’s needs, is a large glass of wine at the end of the week. The only way for me to buy wine is if I bring my children to the liquor store, and for some reason I feel so awkward doing that. As much as we might joke about ordering in a bottle of wine, it’s actually possible with www.cawineclub.com.
Such care went into the packaging of my two bottles from Robledo Family Winery. They were enclosed in custom-cut styrofoam packaging so that they would arrive unscathed by the shipping process. I’d never seen this before.
I received a 2008 sauvignon blanc and a 2009 tempranillo from Robledo Family Winery which is located in Napa Valley.
It was so exciting to try a new brand and even a new variety of wine – I’d never heard of tempranillo before. I think that’s my favorite aspect of California Wine Club. If you tend to stick with the same bottle of wine time and time again, this club will force you to get out of your rut and try new things. Both bottles were great, I was pleasantly surprised.
It may sound silly, but I’m sort of a cork snob. To me, if I open a bottle of wine to find that a synthetic cork (or worse a screw cap!) is used, I can’t help but feel disappointed. There is something about a natural cork stopper, and that’s what the Robledo Winery uses.
Since my husband seldom drinks, I shared the Sauvignon Blanc with my neighbor, and she also thought it was very good.
Most of all, I love the convenience of having my wine shipped right to my home. It’s the little things that make a big difference in this mom’s life.
