Burt’s Bees 30th Anniversary

By Heather

Burt’s Bees has been in business since 1984. It all started when Burt Shavitz picked up a hitchhiker on the side of the road named Roxanne Quimby and she began making beautiful natural candles with Burt’s leftover beeswax. They started selling the candles and in the first year they made $20,000. This year marks the 30th anniversary of their partnership and the company continues to grow.

Burt's Bees

Last week Ryan and I went off to Walmart to make some purchases. There was an entire Burt’s Bees section in the beauty department; I had no idea they had so many products these days! One of the first gifts that I ever bought my mother was their Hand Salve. She’s always loved gardening, and I’d heard it was a wonderful natural product for worn hands. Sure enough she grew to love it and I was so happy to have given her a great product that I could actually afford at that time (when I was in high school).

These are the very reasons that Burt’s Bees has been successful in business for the past 30 years, in my opinion. Their products are made from the best of nature. There really is no reason for all of those unnatural ingredients in so many health and beauty products when nature does a much better job.

Tinted Balm
I’m still addicted to lip gloss, but sometimes you want to use something less messy when your lips are chapped, and mine always are. The tinted shade adds some color to my face even when I’m not wearing any other makeup. The botanical conditioning waxes come in a range of 9 naturally flattering shades including the new Blush Orchid, Caramel Daisy, Petunia and Sweet Violet.

Baby Bee Shampoo & Body Wash
My kids have used just about every body wash and shampoo on the market except this one and I decided that needed to change. The tear free wash features a natural cleansing complex featuring Aloe, Oat Flour and Soy Proteins. I love that it’s formulated without phthalates, parabens, petrolatum, or SLS.

Cuticle Cream
My nails and cuticles have been in bad shape lately. I’ve stopped getting gel manicures which helped a ton, and I’m now working on strengthening my nails and nail beds. This buttery formula combines Sweet Almond Oil and Cocoa Seed Butter to moisturize and soften your cuticles while Vitamin E and Sunflower Oil nourish brittle nails. I’m a sucker for anything lemon-scented.

Natural Acne Solutions Targeted Spot Treatment
This targeted spot treatment is clinically proven to help reduce and improve the appearance of blemishes without irritating chemicals. It contains Tea Tree, Calendula, Yarrow, Borage Extract and Parsley Extracts, for a natural way to soothe redness and promote clear healthy skin.
