I never really made any official resolutions for the new year, but I have taken steps to improve upon my overall health. Starting in January I have made my way to the gym a few times per week and I am working on adding more workout time to my routine in addition to eating healthier. Why? It’s not all about vanity.
Just about 43 million women are currently living with heart disease which is the leading cause of death of American women. I’ve had a few scares over the last year with my heart and I am committed to taking steps to reduce my risk of heart disease. Regular exercise has so many great benefits for our mind and body, including reducing your risk of heart disease by 30-50%.
Burlington has partnered with WomenHeart: The National Coalition for Women with Heart Disease to raise funds and awareness. The organization educates women about the importance of heart health and supports women living with this chronic and life-threatening disease. Burlington locations are also participating in the Heart of Fitness Tour this month in honor of American Heart Month which will help participants learn the ins and outs of heart health and receive complimentary screenings.
If you’d like to contribute you can visit your local Burlington store and contribute $1 or more at checkout from now until March 31st. Burlington will also donate $1, up to $25,000, to WomenHeart for every dress sold during that timeframe.
