There’s a refrigerated case filled with Buitoni pasta between the produce section and the deli section in my supermarket. It’s along a path I always take while grocery shopping, a tempting route indeed, and yet until recently I hadn’t tried their pastas.
But that all changed this past week, as my family was treated to not one but two meals by Buitoni. The first was the Four Cheese Ravioli from that tempting section I always pass, Riserva pasta. Now I know what I’ve been missing all this time. The cheese filling was so creamy and delicious. I served the ravioli as a side dish with my chicken piccata, but the portions were so generous and we could not finish as much as our eyes (and taste buds) wanted us too.
The portions were just as generous with the Lobster Ravioli meal from the Buitoni frozen collection. Other meals we’ve bought from the freezer section were not as filling. Another pleasantly surprise was the chunks of lobster inside. It’s just as good as lobster ravioli dinners I’ve enjoyed at four star restaurants. This meal comes with a butter sauce, but being calorie conscious, we used our own marinara instead and it was delicious!
When I went to Italy as part of a study abroad program years ago, my favorite parts of the country were the small towns in the countryside. I never made it to Tuscany, but that’s at the top of my “places to see” list, and I sure would love a free trip to visit the Casa Buitoni in Tuscany, Italy. Wouldn’t you? Share what inspires you to be creative in the kitchen when preparing and enjoying Italian cuisine in the “Discover our Italian Masterpieces” contest for a chance to win a week’s vacation for two to Tuscany, Italy!
