This is a project I have been wanting to do for a while now. I’ve seen bottle cap necklaces all over Etsy and even considered buying them for previous parties. The thought of making them myself didn’t even enter my mind.
I love craft projects and wish I had time to do them all. The ones that get done have to have an actual purpose other than the craft itself. In this instance, we needed favors for my son’s birthday party. Bottle cap jewelry is great because you can customize the project to fit any theme or occasion. I’ve seen examples using wrapping and scrap-booking paper, stickers or magazine cutouts. In this case I printed off images of our Toy Story characters and then cut them into 1-inch circles using my Silhouette Cameo. If the budget doesn’t allow for a cutting machine, a circle punch would work equally well.
For this project you will need some other supplies.
Materials:
flattened Bottle Caps
1-inch clear epoxy stickers
metal jump rings
Europunch pliers
chain necklaces
glue
paper, cut into 1 inch circles
Step 1: Glue the paper to your bottle cap center. I used a glue gun, but any craft glue that will permanently bond paper with metal will do (E-6000 Permanent Bond Craft Adhesive is a recommendation I’ve heard). Let dry until set.
Step 2: Once dry, you are ready to apply the epoxy stickers over top of your paper.
Step 3: Use the europunch pliers to punch a small hole at the top of the bottle cap. I noticed that I was getting a much better punch when placing the punching side underneath the bottle cap.
Note the difference of the good example on the left next to the one I punched the wrong way on the right.
Step 4: Loop the jump ring through the hole and attach to your necklace.
That’s all there is! You can easily make necklaces to fit any theme with these easy steps.
Have you made any fun crafts lately?

You make it look so simple. Those are REALLY cute. I used to collect bottle caps.
How creative and those are too cute. I like Disney on my necklaces.
How fun! And not too complicated, at least I think I could do this! My kids would love it!
I have seen these before. They are so adorable and great to personalize.
I love these! I thought the process would be more complicated, but you’ve made it look so easy! I think I might give it a go, thank you x

These look really effective – and would be great for party favours for older children.
This is such a cute idea. My best friend is a craft-a-holic, and her two girls love jewelry so this is right up her alley!
