Growing up, I was responsible for helping my mom with household chores. She showed me how to do the laundry by separating the whites from the darks, always adding a scoop of Borax. She explained that Borax helps the laundry detergent work more effectively by removing stains and odors. And that’s exactly what it does.
We attended a wine fest last weekend and someone standing next to me spilled sauce on my brand new white shirt. I don’t know if it was the stain solution or the Borax that did it, but the stain was removed in the laundry and I was so relieved. How many times have you worn a new shirt once and ruined it? That’s happened to me more times than I’d like to admit, akin to throwing money right down the drain.
I’m excited to start using Borax again, and I’m hopeful that it will help me fight those pesky stains on everyone’s clothes around here. We need all the help we can get. I was happy to learn that Borax is septic-system friendly and actually works to soften hard water – which is great because we do not have a water softener. I can’t wait until my children help with the laundry, and add that scoop of Borax!

The only time I’ve ever bought Borax was to make homemade “slime” for my boys LOL.
