This unseasonably warm weather we‘re enjoying throughout the country is great for being outdoors and taking bike rides, long walks or hitting the playground. Unfortunately, though, it’s also led to many bug bites. Mosquitoes are my foe. For my toddler, I fear ticks the most, both for the gross factor and the diseases they carry with them. We live in a very wooded area in the middle of farm country. There are many wild animals and deer, plus livestock, to boot. Combine all this with our own two dogs and we really have to vigilant about checking ourselves and Jack for ticks – often. Every time we return in from a walk or ride, even a walk around the yard, we check him over. It’s not practical to spray him down with bug spray for a short playtime in the yard – nor desirable. But two weekends ago when I picked a tick out of the wispy curls on the back of his neck, I knew I had to do something.
I received a few samples of Boo! Shampoo just after our tick run-in a few weeks ago. Boo! is the brainchild of Cozy’s Cuts for Kids , which has a line of products for children’s hair worth checking out. Boo! is formulated to be safe for kids and pets, and help repel lice, ticks and other buggies from the heads of our precious babies, furry or otherwise.
The Boo! shampoo samples I used smelled very nicely of Tea Tree oil and didn’t seem to irritate Jack during his bath in any way. I’ve used them a few times and I can’t speak to how repellant they are or aren’t – but I can say I haven’t had any tick incidents since the one mentioned above. So, hey, that’s something! The conditioner shares the Tea Tree oil base, as well. I’ve used similar products on my dogs in the past and I believe that Tea Tree oil does help. It also seems to soothe my older dogs skin rashes.
Boo! shampoo and conditioners retail for $14.50 each and are available online.

Lice freaks me out! I use lice products on my kids daily just so I don’t have to deal with it (I hope ever!)
