Two days before we left for Disney, I threw a party for Ryan’s fourth birthday. The kid’s obsessed with his favorite show on Nick Jr., Blaze and the Monster Machines. So when it came time to plan his party, I hit up Oriental Trading for party supplies.
Like with Emma’s Disney Descendants party, I didn’t go heavy on the Blaze merchandise, but I found some really fun accessories that would be perfect for any car or traffic-themed party. Probably the most talked-about accessory purchased for this party was the traffic cones. When I chose this item I knew I wanted to decorate with them but I had also planned on playing outdoor games with them. Unfortunately for us the weather did not cooperate however they would hold up well being kicked over and played with. These traffic cones can and will be used again and again. So much fun!
We also decorated using this amazing pennant banner. I was amazed that we got 100 feet of it. Talk about getting a bang for your buck. We used it everywhere to decorate tables and banisters. The one licensed item I did order was this Blaze tablecloth, and unfortunately I forgot to use it! Anyone planning a Blaze party in the near future? In any case, I am sure we will use it this summer. There are Blaze themed napkins, plates, cups and more available but I decided to go with black cups and napkins instead. I printed out these Blaze cup wrappers (free) for the kids to help with lost cups.
When our guests arrived we put out fresh veggies and dip, assorted chips, crackers and cheese cubes featuring these race car flag picks. I’m sorry I didn’t capture the photo when the plate was nice and full, but aren’t the adorable?
Again I kept the theming simple and focused on the dessert table. Other than the Blaze and the Monster Machines cake, we served traffic lights (brownies with red, yellow and green M&Ms), dip sticks (twizzlers), spare tires (chocolate glazed donuts), and mud (dirt cake pudding). This was probably the easiest dessert table I’ve ever done!
I don’t know why I always worry that the kids won’t have fun. It was disappointing that we had rain and were forced to move the party indoors. They had a blast just playing with one another in the basement. We played pin the wheel on Blaze (free printable) and we set up a tattoo station using these monster truck tattoos. I also made a fun Blaze piñata that we hung from the upstairs banister. Ryan loved his party!
For the favors, each child received one of these fun mini truck pullbacks. We also used some to decorate the tables by attaching them as weights for the balloons. The trucks were fun. Not the best quality, but good enough to add flair to the party and you can’t beat the price.

My older son’s birthday is in two weeks so I will definitely be keeping these ideas in mind. I love the race flags going up on the staircase for a boy’s party.

That’s a great theme for boys and I’m sure that everyone had fun. Sorry you had to move the party indoors but they still had a great time so that’s good.
