A few years ago my mother was having some digestive issues and part of the road to recovery was removing gluten from her diet. Back then, there were barely any options on the general market – she used to love visiting me in South Jersey because there were about five frozen gluten free items at my local Shoprite. Now, there are some truly amazing companies out there with some great options, like BFree, and they are sold all over and online.
BFree was developed to bring tasty, good for you breads to the market. They not only created products that were free from gluten and wheat, but also set out to develop a range of products that are free from all major allergens, that taste just as good as good as the normal conventional bread products AND have exceptional nutrition. These are high-quality, non-GMO ingredients—and completely vegan.
I was excited to try out a bunch of their wheat and gluten free items:
BFree’s line includes brown seeded sandwich loafs, soft white rolls, brown seeded rolls and multiseed bagels?! I can’t get over all the wonderful options out there with gluten sensitivities/intolerances. The item I was most excited to try out was the bagels – as I was born and bred in New York, bagels are a staple in my diet and i’ve tried too many to count.
After toasting and adding some cream cheese I’m going to be honest and say it does not taste like a typical New York bagel – but it was still really good! I can imagine how hard it is for those not able to have any gluten in their diet at all, so having items like these are truly amazing options.
