What does your bedroom say about your home? {Guest Post}

Have you ever wondered what you bedroom says about your personality? In actual fact, it says a lot more than you may think – from how you carry yourself to how others see you, to what you think about and whether you’re a no-nonsense sleeper or a dreamer.

It all starts with what kind of bed you have. There are a number of beds to choose from, including that of four-poster canopy beds and modern-day platform styles to antique brass beds and wooden sleigh designs. The antique and sleigh styles tend to suggest you’re a dreamer and enjoy entering into the magical world of sleep. A contemporary style complete with sleek, functional linen in solid colours suggests you’re a little more minimal in style.

The bed
There are different sizes of beds available, starting with a single and ending with a king-sized bed. A larger the bed may suggest you value your sleep. It may also reveal your extravagant style.

The floor
The floor in your bedroom plays a major part in the identity of you and your home and there are wide ranges of flooring options to choose from. These include hardwood complete with fluffy rugs, carpeted floors in a deep, plush pile, tiles, painted wood and a thinner, less expensive carpet.

If you choose to keep your bedroom completely white, with white wash wall, sanded wooden floors and flowing veil curtains, many will see you as a free spirit – an individual that uses bedtime as an excuse to completely shut themselves off from the computer age we live in today. You would expect to find no flat screen TVs or computers in this room and any that are present will be hidden from sight.

The walls
The four walls surrounding your bed can have a make or break effect on your entire bedroom and also, say a lot about you as an individual. They may be painted in soft, soothing colours, which suggest you are a calm, clear-headed person or may take on a vivid, modern effect; this is often the case in younger individuals.

A feature wall encased in patterned, vintage wallpaper insinuates your love for fashion while wallpaper on all four walls may indicate you have a cluttered personality if patterns are bold or complicated. Accent walls, whether painted or wallpapered, have become one of the biggest interior trends at present with many commenting on the power accent walls have in the home.

The furniture
Then there is the bedroom furniture to consider. If this matches the bedframe and the colour choice of the room, you are more than likely a person that is proud of their home. You enjoy a certain flowing effect, which travels from room to room.

Alternatively, bedroom furniture which is mixed and matched sporadically may represent a more eclectic personality; someone who thrives on variety and change.

Whatever you decide to have, make sure that every element of your bedroom is personalised. After all, this is one of the most personal and intimate rooms in your home and that means it should speak volumes about your personality.
