On a nightly basis, miss Emma asks if she can do my hair. It can be painful at times getting your hair done by a pre-schooler! She’s into all things hair, nails and makeup these days so I knew she would love the Barbie Deluxe Styling Head from Just Play.
It’s just like those practice heads that students use in beauty school. Well, except for the fact that this is way cooler. Not only can kids style barbie’s hair, but they can also do her nails and makeup, too. The kit comes with press-on style nails and stickers that can be used on barbie or even your child’s fingernails. Kids will love that her eyes, lips, hair and nails will change color.
Here she is with her nighttime look on the left (she comes packaged this way) and her daytime eye on the right. Because she comes packaged with the heavier makeup, you have to use very hot water to change it the first time. I couldn’t figure out why the cold wasn’t working until I tried hot water, and there you go!
Parents will love that your kids can do this using only water! There is a nail polish bottle, hair straightener, hair ties and clip and a makeup applicator.
One of the challenges of online shopping is that pictures can often be deceiving, so I wanted to photograph the Deluxe Styling Head with something familiar to give a good idea of scale. Next to Barbie’s head is a large pair of scissors so you can see that this is a large, almost realistic sized styling head (and shoulders) at about 12 inches.
Barbie is completely poseable. You can turn her hands forward and back for nail painting time, and her head is also adjustable. Emma will enjoy hours of play with the Barbie Deluxe Styling Head, and that will spare my scalp for sure!
You can find the Barbie Deluxe Styling Head on Amazon for $29.99, shipping included.
We received a sample for consideration. These are my truthful opinions.
This toy is a waste of money. The makeup doesn’t appear. I bought this for my daughter last year, and it didn’t work. We returned it, and received a replacement to find out it still didn’t work. Save your money! Mom of a disappointed little girl. :(
Wow – I had one of these when I was a kid and I LOVED it. I can’t believe they are still around.
It’s funny because I don’t remember these at all. Was I a deprived child? lol
