Whenever we’re in any store with a grocery freezer section, my child does not ask for ice cream. She asks for Bagel Bites. So when planning the menu and shopping for our little back-to-school celebration, the choice was clear. We bought four boxes at Walmart the other day, because they make awesome after school snacks. Another new fun snack we discovered is Delmex Taquitos.
Can you tell Emma was stoked? Just slightly. Our #AfterSchoolSnacks may be the reason she looks forward to coming home, and I love that they are made with real cheese and homemade sauce with no trans fat.
We’ll take any excuse to have a party, especially when it involves Bagel Bites. When we threw Ryan a Toy Story birthday party last May, we served them as “pizza planets” and they were a hit with not only the kids but the adults too!
We will sometimes serve Bagel Bites with dinner, as an appetizer, or as a fun snack. The kids hadn’t tried Delimex taquitos before, and I was curious to see what they thought because Kevin and I love them.
For our special celebration, we made Bagel Bites and Delimex Taquitos as part of a lunch spread. Emma helped me unwrap the packages and place the food onto a cookie sheet, but she is not old enough to handle the oven, so I took care of that part.
I did however let the kids make their own food people using fruit, vegetables and cheese as accessories. They really got a kick out of this part. We used cran-raisins, carrots, cantelope and pretzels.

Those stick figures are so cute – yep I think that’s one time the kids can play with their food :)
