It’s been ten years since we moved into our home and we are still not finished with the decor. Many walls are bare, windows are missing drapes and we sure could use some additional wall art. Our master and the guest room are the last be decorated and we’re working on changing that. We are starting with our master bedroom. The main problem is that I don’t like to spend a lot of money – especially when it comes to myself. I went high end with the kids’ rooms, but I’m searching for affordable home decor for my own bedroom.
Currently, we use two comforters without duvet covers (I know). We do wash our comforters, but they still look pretty blah that way and they’re also starting to show their age, so I have been on the hunt for a great new duvet set. I’ve looked everywhere and have found nothing I liked, no matter how high or low the price.
That is until I came across the Harbor House Suzanna Duvet Mini Set. I had been stressing over the bedding color for a long time because I didn’t know which direction to go. We’re shopping for a bed now and I have not decided on the color for that but I’m leaning toward a cream/beige color to match our carpet. I never even considered an off-white duvet set, but this is both elegant and understated. The medallion and scroll designs add such a unique three-dimensional flair and the color keeps it grounded. It’s neutral enough to go with whatever furniture we decide to purchase.
The duvet was very easy to put onto the comforter, thanks to the large opening which extends the full length of the side of the cover. It features a button closure.
The regular price on this set was over $500 and the selling price at Designer Living is only $199.99 which was pretty much the highest I was willing to go for a duvet set if I was to purchase one. The fabric is substantial and good quality, and I feel like it’s a tremendous value for the money.
However, I had one small problem. My duvet has what seems like two ink stains. I would not be happy with that no matter what I paid, especially on a white duvet. We contacted Designer Living and they immediately sent out a brand new set in perfect condition – now that’s customer service!
We’re one step closer to completing our bedroom. Now we have to decide on our bed and mattress, drapes, coordinating furniture and accessories. Wish us luck!
