Thus far, the year 2011 has been quite bumpy. I landed myself in the emergency room due to a really bad virus in January, then my daughter and I both caught a flu-like infection, and now my baby is down and out with this nasty stomach virus. I need to decompress, but a big glass of red wine can only do so much for this mama. A spa weekend would sure do the trick though.
So when my sister-in-law emailed me a few weeks ago about a weekend of bonding with the ladies over dinner and drinks, some light gambling, relaxing manicures and pedicures and girl talk, I immediately responded, “Giddy-up!”
It’s been a while since I got away for a ladies’ weekend. We’re talking years. But I have never in my life enjoyed a spa break with more than one girlfriend at a time, so that’s what I’m most looking forward to.
With our trip to Walt Disney World just weeks away, I am in dire need of a pedicure, but I may even treat myself to a facial or a massage. I guess it will depend on what the other ladies decide to do. Because in the end this weekend is more about deepening relationships than anything else. Whatever we end up doing, we’ll be spending some much needed quality time together. Let’s just hope I can stay illness free so that it will actually happen.
