Have you ever thought about purchasing a franchise somewhere? We’ve definitely dreamed about quitting our day jobs and going into business for ourselves. Working for “the man” can get to you after a while. We looked into a franchise opportunity for an ice cream shop once and a coffee shop another time. But required more liquid assets than we had available to us, and the thought of running any type of food service business was overwhelming.
An opportunity to earn income by playing? That I can do.
Here’s a franchise opportunity we never even considered. Kiddie Academy®, a nationwide leader in educationally focused daycare for more than 30 years, has many new franchise opportunities in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. I’m not sure why we never thought of a childcare franchise, especially now that we’re parents. It must be that we thought we’d have to have special credentials. But the fact is, childcare experience is not a necessary skill. The ability and desire to run your own business is the most important characteristic that Kiddie Academy® is looking for in franchisees. They’re seeking entrepreneurial minded individuals, couples, or groups.
Many current franchisees have selected to own one or more Kiddie Academy® centers because it fits their lifestyle so well. I know it would fit mine, because my daughter is at just the right age for this type of school programs the centers provide. Last week I actually enrolled Emma in a pre-pre kindergarten program a few half days per week. I chose the school based on the fact that it is more curriculum based as opposed to a daycare type facility. Just like Kiddie Academy®.
Even though I’ll be paying more per month to enroll Emma in her 3-half-days-per-week class than what I earn at my job, I feel she’ll benefit greatly from a classroom based facility where she can not only socialize but learn. I realize that I may not think to teach her what others might, and I want what’s best for her. And now that my eyes have been opened to the possibilities here, I am going to discuss the idea with my husband.
I don’t think I’m the only parent thinking along these lines. The education-based childcare sector is growing consistently. With the support of a strong franchisor, education-based childcare is a great opportunity for positive short-and long-term results for franchisees.
