The holidays are a special time of year. In this season we reconnect with family from near and far and are afforded an opportunity to have more in-depth conversations about life and reminisce about our past.
In this day and age, families no longer live within a two-block radius of one another. These days we tend to spend more time with friends who live close by in our day to day lives. But even though we may not talk on the daily, we can bond over what we have in common, and with family that’s our ancestry.
Forget about fuzzy slippers and candles, give a gift that is more meaningful. There’s nothing more meaningful than family and no better gift than knowledge. Did you know that your DNA could tell you about your heritage? It can do that and so much more.
23andMe offers two personal genetic services. You can go with the ancestry service or add in the health service to determine what conditions you may be susceptible to given your personal genetic makeup. No need to visit your doctor or have tests done in a lab – it’s all done by mail!
My ancestry kit arrived in my mailbox along with simple instructions on how to submit my DNA for evaluation. All I had to do was spit into a tube and pop it in the mail after registering for a free online account. A few days later, I received confirmation that my kit was received and will be processed. In 6-8 weeks, I can expect to receive an email with a link to my detailed report.
We all think we know where we come from, but this is the only way to know for sure. I know a person who was surprised with her results so I am excited to discover and share mine with my family at Christmas. I think this is a wonderful holiday gift idea and one that will bring family members closer together.
There are special holiday offers for 23andMe kits now through December 26th that you access by visiting 23andMe.

My mom send it her sample about a month ago and we’ve all been on pins and needles waiting for the results to come back. I’m so curious to learn about that half of my DNA!

So exciting. I know you are anxious and can’t wait to find out the results of your DNA test. Most people trace their ancestry through names.

I think all of us have a fascination to trace our roots. The genealogy kit really sounds intriguing. Would love to check this out.
