We are having some friends over today so I thought I’d treat everyone to a spooky Halloween meal. Witch fingers for lunch, and graveyard dip for dessert. Sounds tasty, right? It’s not like the kids need coercing when it comes time to enjoy pizza and candy, but does make the meal a whole lot more exciting. Here’s how I did it:
Witch Finger Pizza
Fruit leather / red bell pepper / other food cut into nail shaped triangles
After baking the pizza, let rest for a few minutes to cool slightly. When cooled, use a pizza cutter to make long thin slices of pizza I made long cuts about a half inch apart lengthwise before I sliced the pizza in half horizontally. This will give you the witch “fingers”.
As for the nails, you can use pretty much anything you have that can be cut into a triangle shape since nails can be any color. I like black, red or green for the nails. Use what you’ve got. I decided on cutting fruit leathers to make the “fingernails”.
Keep an eye out for the special Tombstone pizzas with the Monsters on the packaging. When I visited Walmart, I couldn’t find them so I just got the regular packages.
Graveyard Candy Dip:
8 oz. cream cheese at room temperature
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Nestle Crunch Candies, chopped
*I doubled this recipe to use with my 9″x9″ serving dish.
Mix the cream cheese, sugar and vanillas very well. Spoon into serving dish.
Add chopped candy to the top making the graveyard appearance complete. You can now add decorations like tombstones and such, and serve with sliced apples or pretzels.
It only took about 13 (funny!) or so fun size crunch bars to make the “dirt”. Then a few more for the tombstones.
These would be great additions to any Halloween party menu. Don’t you think?
