Both of my children love to play music. Emma’s alligator piano was handed down to Ryan, and now she needs something a bit more advanced. Last year she received a small-person-sized drum set, this year a digital keyboard.

We as parents aspire to own a piano someday because we’d both always wanted to learn to play. In a couple of years we plan on starting lessons for Emma. I didn’t even realize when we selected this “toy” how perfect it was for helping our little musician grow and learn.

The portable 54-key multifunction digital electronic keyboard came with a booklet that teaches young musicians the basic fundamentals, including finger positioning and how to read and play music. When it arrived I was surprised by its size. It measures 33-1/2 inches long by 11-1/2″ wide.

There are 100 music styles (rhythms), 100 instrument sounds (timbres), 32 tempos and 6 percussion keys available. This will keep her busy, I think!  The keyboard features an LED digital display, built-in speakers, and even a microphone for karaoke! Emma loves to sing, so I know we will be using this feature. With this you have the ability to record, store and replay your creations too.

It can be portable if you’ve got 6 D batteries, or you can use the AC adapter which is included. I’m really impressed by this keyboard – Sun Mate really seemed to think of every last detail, even if it is a kid’s keyboard.
